Homeowner chops down leylandii in her front garden and finds 13th Century chapel on site recorded in the Domesday Book.

Retired teacher was excavating some trees when ruins of 13th Century chapel were found beneath her front garden.

Archaeologists invited to investigate and found Saxon and medieval structures revealing more about local history

Resident, 65, says she was happy to host the year-long dig at her home and described the findings as ‘fantastic’.

Much of the structure, descending 4ft into the ground, will now have to be covered up to prevent any further decay…
