I know! While it’s a familiar cemetery, I had no idea about the related history. If I had, I might not have explored it as avidly as I did back in the day!

My interest in cemeteries began when we moved to Groton, Massachusetts. Early headstones in New England (1600’s to early 1800’s) were carved from slate; therefore the inscriptions and carvings are still remaining. The writings are fascinating! And the carvings are exquisite. It is a delight in both art and history- two things I love!
