  1. This brought to mind my (second) father-in-law. He served in the Irish Air Force during the war, before moving to London, and later becoming a well-known publican and writer. By the time I met and married his daughter, he had sadly died, but they had many interesting stories about his life.
    I heard mention of the bombing in Ireland, which was news to me at the time.
