The Real England is a concise, direct, and not-so-gentle window into the depths of the leftovers of the world’s once greatest empire. It is told from the perspective of one lone (or not so lone) long term visitor. It informs one of the dregs of the country and helps to explain quaint British oddities such as the crack addicted chav.

It’s always a good thing to remind women how far we have come, and not so long ago, on the heels of many incredible women leaders in overcoming such fierce opposition for having the freedom to vote. That we currently have a woman running for U.S. president is astounding, and interestingly, the opposition still remains for some people. Great post, and timely.

We still have a long way to go, though. Appalled just now to read this post from Gigi at Rethinking Life: https://gigisrantsandraves.wordpress.com/2016/09/17/it-never-ends/.

Some powerful, if ridiculous images from that time. I have seen many before, but they never make for comfortable viewing when you know the vitriol and prejudice behind them.
Best wishes, Pete.

Very uncomfortable viewing. Check out the link I’ve given in my reply to Jet.

Left a ‘like’ on that site.
Scandalous! Like the girls at some schools here who are not allowed to wear trousers, but are allowed to have inappropriately short skirts on. Or ridiculous rules that ban bare legs at school as ‘titillating’, yet allow black stockings and tights, or over-knee socks. Those idiots are obviously unaware of exactly what turns on men who lust after young women and schoolgirls…Nothing really changes, and the world just gets worse, if anything. x
