“The Nakba did not begin in 1948. Its origins lie over two centuries ago….”
So begins this four-part series on the ‘nakba’, meaning the ‘catastrophe’, about the history of the Palestinian exodus that led to the first Arab-Israeli war in 1948, and the establishment of the state of Israel. This sweeping history starts back in 1799 with Napoleon’s attempted advance into Palestine to check British expansion and his appeal to the Jews

Very interesting, Sarah. I have saved the link, to watch the episodes at leisure.
(I hope you are feeling better, though I suspect this might be a scheduled post)
Best wishes, Pete.

It wasn’t scheduled so much as seeing such a build-up of saved posts and being desperate to publish something despite my fogged state. It does look fascinating and I shall be watching them at my leisure too. I’m a great fan of Al Jazeera and their documentaries and series, a fondness that comes from watching it in Crete. Do I need satellite to watch it here only I haven’t got that yet and can’t find it on what I can see on my new-fangled (how things have changed since I’ve been in Crete!) tv.

It is available on Freeview, as long as you have a suitable Freeview TV, or digi-box added. Not sure about the IOW,, but if you search online, with your postcode, it should tell you what you can receive there. (We don’t get everything, in Norfolk.) You may have to re-tune your system though. Here’s a link.

Failing that, it is online.
Best wishes, and get well soon. Pete. x
