  1. Considering that the Dutch defeated our navy, then sailed down the Thames to threaten London, it is understandable that some enmity would have endured. These days, we all love Holland, especially Amsterdam, and envy the laid-back lifestyle, relaxed attitude to cannabis, and those tasty pancakes.
    We have moved on perhaps, but still say ‘going Dutch.’
