  1. Love this graphic… One point… The map shows how far fighters could fly at that time… Not bombers. My father was flying a four engine bomber (a B-17). The problem they had in the fall of 1943 was they were flying much farther than their fighter escorts could fly. The fighters would go as far as they could and then leave the bombers to go on without protection. That’s why the Mustang was such a welcome addition in 1944… It could fly all the way to the targets and back. Thanks for posting this. Loved it… Tom.
