1,000 Years of Changing European Borders: Time-Lapse Video

This is an absorbing gallop through 1,000 years of European history by way of a map of changing borders.  You will notice a hive of activity in all the usual trouble spots, while the overwhelming swallowing up of neighbours by the Great Bear (Russia) is difficult to ignore.

With thanks to Penny Dolan and The History Girls for posting an article that included this video.

  1. I really enjoyed that Sarah. Interesting to see all the tiny states that eventually became Germany, and I never realised how large Lithuania was, at one time. A fascinating slice of European historical development.
    Best wishes, Pete.
